Rangers, Celtic and Glasgow City set for SWPL title battle for the ages as trio fight to become champions

Rangers, Glasgow City, or Celtic will be crowned SWPL champions on Sunday with the final day set to provide a sensational finish to yet another captivating season.

Not mouthwatering enough for you? Second-place Rangers host first-place Glasgow City and it's third versus fourth in Celtic v Hearts, albeit there are 29 points between Celtic and their opponents on Sunday. Drama is all but guaranteed.

Rangers are hoping to make it back-to-back titles as Malky Thomson's side finished last season as SWPL champions and have been impressive once again this season. Should Glasgow City win it would be a 15th title in 16 attempts as their dominance over the women's game would continue with a win this Sunday. If Fran Alonso's side are to be victorious in the title race it would be a first title for the side, a feat they will be undoubtedly keen to achieve this coming weekend.

The current state of play has Glasgow City in first place on 80 points, then Rangers on 78, and then third-placed Celtic also on 78, only behind by a goal difference of one.

Glasgow City are the only side with their own destiny entirely in their own hands. If Leanne Ross' side wins, then they are SWPL champions. They'd move onto 83 points, an unassailable tally regardless of a Celtic win elsewhere.

Should Malky Thomson's Rangers team win and Celtic lose or draw, they are champions. However, should both Rangers and Celtic win, then goal difference will be key.

Rangers currently have a goal difference of +103, while it's +102 for Celtic, with league leaders City on +93. Both sides will know that a big win will give them an even greater chance of a win over their rivals.

Now, despite currently being third, it may be Celtic who are the favourites for the title.
