Rangers announce Andy Goram funeral details as fans learn when they can pay final respects

Rangers has confirmed the funeral details for late icon Andy Goram when supporters will be able to say goodbye one final time to 'The Goalie.'

Goram made 260 appearances for the Gers between 1991 and 1998. In that time, he won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups and stunned fans alongside others with jaw-dropping performances. His death was announced by the Ibrox club on Saturday at the age of 58 after a short battle with cancer.

A minute's silence will be held before Saturday's friendly in Portugal against Sunderland before further tributes at the home match against West Ham later this month. The Light Blues said in a statement: "Rangers can today confirm there will be minute’s silence ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Sunderland in memory of legendary goalkeeper Andy Goram. The club can also today confirm Andy’s funeral will take place on Monday, 18 July at Wellington Church.

"The following day, representatives of Rangers will lay a wreath prior to the West Ham United friendly match, with further tributes planned for that evening to allow supporters to pay their final respects to ‘The Goalie’."

Plenty of tributes have been paid to Goram following the news of his passing at the weekend, with icons such as Ally McCoist among those doing so.

It's another sad loss for Rangers after losing the likes of legendary boss Walter Smith and kitman Jimmy Bell earlier this year.
