Rangers: 'Alarm bells for fans' after £11.7m star development

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos will have set alarm bells ringing by choosing to change his agent ahead of the summer transfer window opening for business, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Morelos has been on the Gers’ books since joining from HJK Helsinki close to five years ago, but there are concerns that his time at Ibrox could be coming to an end.

According to the Daily Record, Morelos has gone into the international break having opted to walk away from his previous representatives and link-up with a new agent.

The report suggests the 25-year-old has made the move as he looks to seal a switch away from the Glasgow giants in the summer.

Newcastle United, Leicester City and Everton were named as admirers at the turn of the year, although a change in management at Goodison Park may have altered the latter’s views.

Morelos is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract – which is worth £33,000-per-week – at the end of the season, meaning Rangers could see the frontman walk away from Ibrox for nothing in the not-too-distant future if they fail to tie him down to a new deal or sanction his departure.

Gers chief Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be sweating on the fitness of Morelos ahead of domestic football’s return as he has suffered ‘muscular overload’ while on international duty with Colombia.

O’Rourke believes Morelos’ decision to find new representatives may show he is eager to leave Rangers at the end of the season.

The journalist feels the move will have left Gers supporters fearing that they will only be able to see him in action for a matter of months before he heads onto pastures new.
