Ramsdale rated as just 50:50 to make Arsenal's visit to Crystal Palace

Aaron Ramsdale is rated as 50:50 for Arsenal's Premier League return at Crystal Palace on Monday after missing their win at Aston Villa and pulling out of the England squad due to a hip injury.

Ramsdale suffered the injury in his last appearance against Liverpool ruling him out of the Villa victory in which Bernd Leno deputised.

Ramsdale was initially named in Gareth Southgate's squad for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast and in line to win his second cap before being forced to withdraw.

Ramsdale has continued to receive treatment on the injury during the international break and work on his recovery.

He is making progress but is yet to fully overcome the issue ahead of Monday's trip to Selhurst Park.

Arsenal are being cautious with No.1 Ramsdale and can do so knowing they have a goalkeeper of Leno's calibre available as back-up.

The fitness level Ramsdale shows when Arsenal return to training over the weekend, following a day off for Mikel Arteta's players on Friday, is set to determine whether he is deemed ready for a place in the matchday squad again.

Ramsdale was among the absent names as a squad of players who remained behind during the international break beat Brentford B 4-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday.

Right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has been battling a calf problem and not played for over a month, was also missing as Alexandre Lacazette scored a hat-trick and Rob Holding scored in the game at Arsenal's London Colney training ground.
