Rams' Myles Garrett set to return vs. Commanders - ESPN

LOS ANGELES — Rams outside linebacker Myles Garrett is expected to play Sunday against the Commanders «barring any sort of setbacks» with his knee injury, coach Sean McVay said Friday.

McVay said the expectation is that Garrett as well as tight end Terrance Ferguson (ankle) will be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game. Both players returned to practice this week.

The Rams are still working through how much Garrett will play, McVay said, adding that the pass rusher has «really done a great job in practice» this week.

«He has progressed really well, made a tremendous impact in practice on Wednesday and Thursday [and] feels really comfortable with the game plan,» McVay said. «And it's been great having him out there as well as Terrence.»

If Garrett is active as expected, he will play alongside defensive tackle Aaron Donald for the first time. Donald did not play in Week 1 — Garrett's first and only game for the Rams so far — while working his way back from retirement.

Garrett has been on injured reserve since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-September. He played in the Rams' season opener but said after the game that he was not 100% healthy. Garrett missed most of training camp while dealing with what McVay called knee irritation at the time.

Ferguson has missed five games after spraining his ankle in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos.

The Rams traded for Garrett this offseason, sending two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks, including a first-round selection in 2027, to the Cleveland Browns. Garrett was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2025 after setting the single-season sack record with 23 for the Browns.
