Ralf Rangnick’s strong network to give him 'a good chance’ at staying as Manchester United coach

Manchester United were in disarray when Ralf Rangnick came in. But the German is starting to stamp his style onto the team, and the club finds itself back in the top four. United are nowhere near where it should be, but Rangnick is beginning to implement a philosophy in a challenging job.

Rangnick is, of course, in charge on an interim basis and the club have stated they are on the search for a manager to take over permanently. But they may not have to look too far.

In MEN's latest Facebook Live, United on My Mind's editor Mike Parrott accompanied Sky Sports' Bundesliga expert Florian Plettenberg. The pair discussed Rangnick and what the future may have in store for United.

: "All I can say is I've met him [Rangnick] a lot of times here in Germany when he was in charge at Leipzig, for example. He's very ambitious and very experienced, and his totally clear philosophy of football, and I can only say that he put Leipzig on another level. For example, on the pitch, they played very, very good football, very offensive, and also got a good balance between offence and defence.

"But I think you have to remember he was not at Manchester United from the very beginning. He was not able to work with the team from the first day; he was not responsible for the transfers Manchester United had made before that season, so it's very complicated for either finding now in that situation. I think it's not easy for a coach like him.

"Maybe with a small name in the UK to work, for example, with Cristiano Ronaldo, and if we see the articles and we hear the criticism (Paul) Scholes or (Gary) Neville have, it's not easy for the coach. But give him time. I think he's a great coach for Manchester United with a big philosophy, but he needs time,
