Ralf Rangnick Manchester United press conference LIVE Man Utd vs Southampton fixture and team news

Ralf Rangnick will be speaking to the press on Friday afternoon as he looks ahead to Manchester United's home match against Southampton in the Premier League this weekend.

United will be eager to get back to winning ways after a defeat to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup last time they played at Old Trafford, as well as a disappointing midweek which saw them draw away at Burnley in the league.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League games against Southampton (W5 D6) since a 1-0 home loss in January 2016, while the visitors have won just two of their 22 Premier League away games at Old Trafford (D4 L16), losing this exact fixture 9-0 last season.

Rangnick is expected to issue some early team news ahead of the match with Alex Telles back in training after a COVID lay-off.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has revenge on mind as his Southampton side return to the scene of their humiliation by Manchester United last season.

It’s just over a year to the day since the Saints suffered their joint-heaviest defeat at Old Trafford, losing 9-0 as United ran riot against their nine-man opposition.

Reacting to the win over Spurs, Hasenhuttl said. “I am very empty! I have no idea how they are. I don't even know if I will be able to watch the game again driving home on the bus!

“We are only tired right now. We have had some great results in tough games against Manchester City and Tottenham, and we haven't lost. This is fantastic.

“We know that we need to at least perform the same on Saturday. They have 24 hours longer to recover than we have. This will be super tough.

“We lost there 9-0 last season, I haven't forgotten this.”
