Ralf Rangnick makes Liverpool FC claim as Manchester United target centre-back

Ralf Rangnick has suggested Liverpool is the ideal model for Manchester United to follow if they are to become a credible force again.
Since Jurgen Klopp's appointment in October 2015, Liverpool have reached six finals, winning the Champions League in 2019 and the League Cup this year, as well as ending a 30-year wait for the championship in 2020.

Klopp has six players who were recruited under Rangnick's watch at his former clubs in Germany and Austria and the interim United manager lauded Klopp's squad management during his time at Anfield, where United are due on Tuesday night.

Manchester United intend to sign another centre-back in the summer transfer window as they attempt to secure their porous defending.
The Manchester Evening News understands United held exploratory discussions with the representatives of Antonio Rudiger, out of contract in Chelsea at the summer, but there is little expectation of the Germany international joining them.
Sources close to the player are more focused on discussing potential contracts with clubs guaranteed of playing in the Champions League next season. Although United are three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, their next three fixtures are away at Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Chelsea at home.
