Ralf Rangnick has given Manchester United what they needed
To say that Ralf Rangnick's spell as interim manager at Manchester United has been uninspiring would be an understatement.
With just three games of his managerial premiership remaining, the German will be determined to go out on a high and end what has been a disappointing spell in temporary charge with a sense of positivity. A surprise choice by United back in November, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's exit, Rangnick had only been a coach for two out of the last ten years and his time in charge has shown why.
Appointed as a short-term solution that would bide United time to appoint Solskjaer's permanent replacement, Rangnick was expected to change United's style of play, put fire back into the bellies of the players and improve results. After a promising start, in which his side beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in his first game in charge, they soon crumbled and went back to doing what they had done before he arrived at the club - underperforming and letting the supporters down.

Although everyone associated with United will be furious with how this season has mapped out, least of all the supporters, the decision to bring Rangnick to the club could turn out to be one of the wisest and most sensible decisions that has been made at Old Trafford in recent years. That is because the German, who was poached from an upstairs role at Lokomotiv Moscow, has done and said things at United that have been ignored for far too long.
