Ralf Rangnick details Erik ten Hag chat as Manchester United friendly 'cancelled'

Manchester United interim manager Erik ten Hag has been in contact with incoming manager Erik ten Hag ahead of their formal meeting. The 52-year-old will be in attendance for United's final match of the season at Crystal Palace on Sunday and is expected to be in Manchester on Monday.

Rangnick will manage United for the last time at Selhurst Park and has already been in dialogue with his replacement. He will be hoping to spoil Patrick Vieira's end of season party.

"We've been in contact via WhatsApp and hopefully we will have the opportunity to meet and speak in person, either at the weekend or Monday morning at the latest," Rangnick said. "I'm looking forward to speaking to him in person and getting to know him in person."

Manchester United will not play any pre-season friendlies in England this summer, according to a football executive. It means fans won’t see Erik ten Hag manage at Old Trafford until August 6 - the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season - at the earliest.
