Ralf Rangnick bans bacon butties, beer and burgers in Manchester United fitness drive

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is desperate to up the fitness levels of his players, so has banned them from a range of unhealthy food and drink on rest days.

The German wants to implement the high pressing style that he is famed for pioneering, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp one of many managers who have been inspired by his methods.

Bacon butties, burgers, pizzas, red meat, cakes, alcohol and fizzy drinks have all been ruled out under the new plan, according to the report.

Replacing these meals will be chicken, salmon, monkfish and more vegetables.

Manchester United will look to bounce back on Saturday lunchtime after a couple of disappointing results after being ousted from the FA Cup by Middlesbrough and drawing with Burnley in the Premier League.
