Ralf Rangnick assistant names Manchester United's strongest midfield line up

Former RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch has suggested Paul Pogba should be part of Manchester United’s best side – and doesn’t feel there’s a place for Scott McTominay in it.

Pogba has featured in every game for United since the international break, having returned from a thigh injury that had kept him out since November.

Having scored in the 1-1 draw at Burnley, the France international made an instant impact when he was called off the bench against Brighton on Tuesday, with the 28-year-old injecting some life into United to help them win 2-0.

Much has been made of Pogba’s place in the side, particularly with his future in the air given his contract is due to expire in the summer.

With both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now Ralf Rangnick tending to favour both Fred and McTominay in their teams, it has been tough to find a way to best include Pogba.

But Marsch — who worked alongside Rangnick at RB Leipzig — believes there is a way for Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo to play together, though he wouldn't pick McTominay.

“I’m excited to see Pogba back after injury and what Rangnick can accomplish with him,” Marsch told The Athletic.

“I can see Pogba, Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes starting together. The way they’ve played with the 4-3-3- recently, I think Pogba fits in well there.

“Fernandes can play as one of the eights or in one of the wider positions. It could look really good.
