Raith Rovers sign former Aberdeen and Dundee United star David Goodwillie from Clyde

Clyde captain David Goodwillie has made a deadline day move to Championship outfit Raith Rovers in a huge blow to Danny Lennon's side.

Rumours had circulated earlier this month that the Kirkcaldy club were interested in signing the former Dundee United striker and Rovers have swooped in the final hours of the window to land the striker for an undisclosed fee.

Goodwillie departs Broadwood having netted 17 goals in 25 appearances this season in League One, while scoring more than 100 during his near-five year spell at the club.

A statement from the Bully Wee read: "The club can confirm that David Goodwillie has this evening signed for cinch Championship side Raith Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

"David, who joined Clyde in March 2017, has made 176 appearances for The Bully Wee, scoring an incredible 109 goals in the process. He has also been the club captain since the summer of 2019.

"The club is disappointed to lose David, but does not stand in the way of players with aspirations for full-time football and the chance to achieve top level status, which David was keen on.

"All at the club would like to thank David for his tremendous contribution to the Clyde shirt and wish him well for the future."

Clyde manager Danny Lennon admitted it was a sore one to lose his talisman.

He said: “I’m very disappointed to be losing a player of David’s ability.

"Any manager would. In my time here he has been great to work with and produced moments of magic that any football fan loves to see.

“It’s fair to say that while David has been good for Clyde, scoring over 100
