Raheem Sterling wants Man City future resolved in next fortnight as Chelsea target England star
Raheem Sterling hopes to resolve his future within the next two weeks.
Chelsea are targeting the England international but are yet to make formal contact with his club, Manchester City, or with Sterling as he considers what to do.
There is also interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid and he was considered by Bayern Munich before they finally signed Sadio Mane. While Chelsea want Sterling there is no frontrunner at present.
With one year left on his deal at City Sterling has been offered a new contract by the Premier League champions but is considering his future.
It is a situation that City, who are yet to quote a fee for Sterling, accept and they have agreed to his request to be given time to go through his options and what role he has in Pep Guardiola’s plan should he eventually stay.
Having been on England duty until last week, the attacker is on holiday at present in Jamaica but is personally leading the talks, in conjunction with his lawyer, over his own future.
Ideally Sterling will be able to make a decision on what he regards as the most important contract in his football career in time for him to undergo a full pre-season of training. Hence the two week deadline that he has unofficially set himself.
The 27-year-old is determined to find the right club to not only fulfil his ambitions but be somewhere where he will be viewed as a key player and a regular starter as he reaches his peak.
Relations with City remain good and respectful but Sterling did grow frustrated in the second half of the last campaign when he did not start some of the big matches. For example he was a substitute for both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
