R70 million prize purse confirmed for inaugural SA20
The inaugural SA20 will be breaking barriers in South African cricket as a record prize fund of R70 million will be awarded.
It is the biggest prize pool in the history of South African franchise cricket, which underlines SA20's long-term commitment to investing in South African cricket and its players.
The SA20 will get underway on Tuesday, 10 January at Newlands Cricket Ground for a Western Cape derby, which sees MI Cape Town hosting Paarl Royals.
Earlier this month, Betway came in as title sponsor for the event as six co-owned Indian Premier League teams vie for the title: Durban's Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
The inaugural season of 33 matches is set to run from 11 February, with a week break to fit in the Proteas' three-match ODI series against England.

"We have worked hard to offer a rewarding and unprecedented incentive in the first season of Betway SA20," said SA20 League Commissioner, Graeme Smith.
"This is a first for South African cricket, we have never had this type of competitive incentive in our domestic cricket and it is a further indication of SA20's ambitions to positively impact South African cricket."
Ticket prices will range from R50 to R200 with free entry for kids under six and scholars and pensioners eligible for a 30 percent discount.
Tickets for all 33 matches are available at the six stadiums and online through the Ticketpros website.
