During the 1990’s, Blackpool tried to navigate their way through the Football League.

The Seasiders secured a return to the third-tier of English football via a trip to Wembley Stadium in 1992 as they defeated Scunthorpe United on penalties in the play-off final.

Despite maintaining their place in this particular division, Blackpool were unable to launch a successful promotion bid in the following seasons and were eventually relegated back down to the fourth-tier in the closing stages of the 1999/2000 campaign.
