Queen's Park face Lesser Hampden delay as potential Championship title party may go to Ochilview

Queen's Park may have to stage a potential promotion party at Ochilview after admitting their new Lesser Hampden home won’t be ready before the end of the season.

Owen Coyle’s Championship-leading Spiders hold a four-point advantage going into the final six games of the league campaign. The former amateurs were hoping they’d have completed building works on Lesser Hampden in time for their final two home games - which includes a potential final-day title decider against nearest-challengers Dundee.

But club chiefs have now confirmed the Friday night double-header against Hamilton and the Dens Park outfit will be staged at the home of Stenhousemuir, where they have been based all season. Queen’s Park president David Hunter said: “This decision has been taken now, as there remains a number of outstanding build requirements in the East Stand. This has delayed our planned test events and time has gone against us to receive the required certification to host these games.

“Our supporters have given us tremendous backing this season. We thank them for that support and we apologise for the scheduling of another Friday night fixture.” The Accies clash takes place on Friday, April 14 with a 7.45pm kick-off, while the visit of May 5 clash with Dundee kicks off at the same time and will be broadcast live by BBC Scotland.
