Queen Elizabeth II: David Beckham waits 12 hours to see coffin

David Beckham has taken his chance to be a part of history after joining the famous queue to see Queen Elizabeth II lying in state.

The Queen’s passing has dominated global headlines over the last week as her 70-year reign sadly came to an end.

The world of sport moved swiftly to honour the Queen’s life, with local football games called off in the days following her passing.

Meanwhile, England Cricket paid an incredible tribute to The Queen, as they then became the first team to sing ‘God Save the King’ before their Test match clash with South Africa.

After her body was moved from Scotland to London, thousands upon thousands of people have been filing past her coffin as she lies in state at Westminster Hall.

Well-wishers have come from all over the globe to see The Queen’s coffin, with London preparing itself for the biggest influx of people it has seen in a generation.

The result is that the queue to see The Queen’s coffin has grown to quite an astonishing size, with waiting times of 12-14 hours being reported.

The back of the queue has extended into the east of the capital, snaking past the world-famous Tower Bridge and beyond.

All reports from the queue are that people are only too happy to wait to carve out their own slice of a moment that will go down in history.

However, you can imagine that mighty wait would be a lot more bearable when you get to share the queue with bona-fide English footballing royalty.

Images and clips have emerged today of the one and only David Beckham patiently waiting his turn to file past The Queen’s coffin in Westminster.

Beckham, who is one of the most recognisable figures in Britain, wasn’t about to miss out on being a part of history, dressing in a full suit and hat for the occasion.
