Pundit slams 'absolutely incredible' James Maddison decision
The decision by England boss Gareth Southgate not to call James Maddison up to his latest England squad has been branded "absolutely incredible" by a former Premier League midfielder and pundit.
Despite a mightily impressive 30 goals and assists across all competitions for Leicester, after heavy transfer links to Arsenal and the birth of his son last summer, Maddison has again been overlooked.
That is something former Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic midfielder Darren Ambrose cannot get his head around, telling talkSPORT: "If you're picking on form, the biggest surprise out of the lot is James Maddison.
"Absolutely incredible decision, him not being in. He's comparable to Mount this season. Mount's a regular, a starter. Eighteen goals, 12 assists in all competitions for Maddison, he's been brilliant for Leicester."
Echoing the thoughts of a majority of Leicester fans, Ambrose added: "I'm surprised he's not in the England squad. I don't know what he can do to get in there."
City favourite Gary Lineker has echoed the seemingly unanimous thought on Maddison, agreeing with criticism of the decision in a social media post.
