Pundit outlines ‘pathetic’ Everton danger, and reveals what Lampard will be ‘petrified’ about

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton feels Frank Lampard will be ‘petrified’ with the upcoming Everton run given their recent away form.

Everton are in a particularly precarious position at the moment. The Toffees are in 17th place and sit just four points above the Premier League drop zone.

In fact, they are currently on course for their worst league finish since the 2003/04 season. What’s more, their run until the end of the season presents more danger.

Lampard’s side still have to play six games against sides currently inside the top half, two of whom are within the top three. Three of those games are away from home, and four of their remaining games altogether are on the road.

That presents a significant challenge given their dismal form on the road. Indeed, Everton have won just one league match away from Goodison Park this season – a 2-0 victory over Brighton all the way back in August.

Now, former Premier League striker Chris Sutton spoke out on the Toffees’ poor away form.

“Everton’s problem is that their away form is so bad,” he said on The Monday Night Club podcast.

“Frank Lampard will be petrified with the away games, how does he turn that around?”

Indeed, Lampard’s side have a tough task on their hands. Everton have not managed to win a game on the road during Lampard’s tenure.

They have played six away games in all competitions while Lampard has been in charge. In fact, they have not managed to take a single point home from any of those fixtures.

Sutton clearly feels that there is a discrepancy in the energy levels between games at Goodison Park and away from home.

“I think it’s a real headscratcher, at home, I was there when beat Arsenal 2-1, the atmosphere there earlier in the season was incredible,”
