Pundit makes transfer claim involving Fulham, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid

One of the main headlines on deadline day was that the Reds had missed out on completing a deal to sign the Fulham wonderkid as the move broke down in the dying hours of the January window.

As a result of this Carvalho stayed put at Craven Cottage and is currently allowed to negotiate with whatever foreign side he wants to due to the fact that he has less than six months left to run on his contract with the West London outfit.

This has led to Robinson speculating over how Liverpool must feel about the current situation, as he stated the following recently:

“It is always a worry when Barcelona and Real Madrid are involved. Yes, they are not the two superpowers they used to be but the history and the weight of the clubs remain. Players want to play for them.”

Carvalho has been one of Fulham’s standout performers this term but the Whites are now resigned to losing their starlet after he made it clear that there was no chance of him signing a new contract with his boyhood club.

As a result he is now set to leave on a free transfer next summer after his £8 million move to Anfield fell through in January.

The Verdict 

Robinson certainly makes a very valid point – players are still attracted by the glitz and glam of La Liga and that is a factor which can still trump the financial superiority of the Premier League.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are still massive superpowers in the market and would no doubt back themselves to sign Carvalho if they were to firm up their interest.

Liverpool of course agreed personal terms with the player back in January, so for them they feel that they are halfway there with regards to getting a deal done for the youngster.

In short it will certainly be interesting to see where he ends
