Pundit insists Leeds need summer overhaul, reveals how many signings Radrizzani must sanction

Leeds need to make five or six new signings this summer to avoid getting dragged into another relegation scrap next season, as claimed by the club’s former midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The Yorkshire outfit have been unable to back up their top-half finish from last term this time around, which led to Marcelo Bielsa being replaced by Jesse Marsch in the dugout in February.

It has been a difficult campaign for Leeds from the outset. They were thrashed 5-1 by Manchester United on the opening day, and they have suffered further heavy defeats against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham since then.

When Bielsa departed at the end of February, it appeared that Leeds were in genuine danger of dropping back down to the Championship.

Marsch has been able to steady the ship somewhat since then, and the team have picked up seven points from their last three matches to move six points clear of the relegation zone.

Palmer told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s not just one position. I think they need to strengthen in very key areas of the football pitch. That’s been proven.

“It will be interesting to see how Leeds go about it this summer. I think they need to keep their best players, and they need to add to that with five of six quality players. They really do, if they don’t want to be in the position that they’re in, next season.”
