Pundit details key Everton survival route and thinks ‘it’s still in their hands’

Pundit Simon Jordan feels that survival is in the hands of Everton, as he detailed their potential survival route, pointing out some key fixtures.

The Toffees were plunged into the relegation zone at the weekend for the first time this season. A Burnley win over Wolves sent the Clarets clear of Everton temporarily.

Everton’s subsequent loss to rivals Liverpool meant that they remained in the drop zone. They now have six games to turn things around.

That gives them a glimmer of hope, as Burnley have one game less. Indeed, it looks as if the race to avoid the drop will go right down to the wire.

Pundit Jordan thinks that the Toffees will still be hopeful, despite the weekend’s results.

“Nobody expected Everton to get a result at Liverpool, so with that in mind it’s difficult to suggest that you should be coming away from that game any more disappointed than you went into it,” he said via Goodison News.

“I should think you come away from that game thinking we’re not on the end of a 5-0 tanking, because we’re that far away from them.”

Jordan also feels that the next couple of games for both Everton and Burnley are crucial.

“The next two games for me, Burnley away to Watford and home to Villa, and Everton at home to Chelsea and away to Leicester,” he added.

“If the situation stays as it is now, then Everton have had a result in terms of only two points behind them with a game in hand.”

With one game in hand over Burnley, Jordan believes they are still in the better position.

“But I still think it’s in their hands. They still have the game in hand and it’s all about the next two results.”
