One player that had a temporary spell at the Midlands club that they will now be wishing they had managed to sign on a permanent deal is winger Serge Gnabry, who joined on loan from Arsenal back in August 2015 when Tony Pulis was in charge of the Baggies.

During his time at the Hawthorns, the German made just three senior appearances with three for the U23s as well before returning to Arsenal in February 2016. With no goals to his name in a Baggies shirt, it’s safe to say that his time at the Midlands club was not particularly successful.

However, despite that, the club will now be wishing they took a bigger chance on the attacker and kept him in their squad on a permanent basis.

Since leaving Arsenal in the 2016 summer transfer window for a move back to Germany with Werder Bremen, Gnabry scored 11 goals in 27 appearances before joining Bayern Munich just under a year later.

With 162 appearances under his belt for the Bundesliga giants, the 26-year-old has scored 60 goals and provided 39 assists in the process, winning numerous trophies.

Having played in 33 games across the Bundesliga and the Champions League this season, the former Baggies loan dud has chipped in with 13 goals and six assists, highlighting just how much of a deadly attacking threat he has become and why he’s been described as a “weapon.”
