PSSI on Football Team's AFF Achievement, Prize Money, and Future Events

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairperson of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) Mochamad Iriawan on Tuesday said the Indonesian national team performing in the 2020 AFF Championship are undergoing health quarantine following their return after snatching runner up.

In order to add motivation for the athletes, he said each and every member will be receiving cash bonuses. This will apply for both players and officials with a total of  US$100,000 or roughly Rp1.42 billion.

“As the Chair of PSSI, I ask for the prize money to be handed to the national football team,” said the former Metro Jaya Police chief.

He added that there will be more tournaments that the team will participate in 2022, starting with the upcoming AFF U-23, Asian Cup qualifiers, Sea Games, Asian Games, and the FIFA Match Day.  Meanwhile, the U-19 team will undergo preparation for the U-20 World Cup in 2023.

"As for when the training camp will be held, we will wait for the coach's roadmap, whether the camp will be carried out at home or abroad. Which is more effective and better for the national team, we leave it to the coach ," he said.

He also gave a message to the coach, Shin Tae-yong, to remain focused on continuing the program that would elevate the football team’s performance entering the 2022 season.

“Our next goal is to defend the AFF-U23 trophy that we won in Cambodia,” sad Iriawan.
