PSL transfer updates: Motupa's Sundowns journey ends, City accept Chiefs' R3.5m offer for Mdantsane

As the dust settles following the culmination of the 2022/23 season, teams across the Premier Soccer League are already looking towards the future.

The off-season transfer window for South African clubs officially opens on 1 July ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, which usually takes to the whistle mid-August.

However, teams have already begun tinkering with their squads. Here is the latest in what is happening:

Mamelodi Sundowns

Attacking midfielder Gift Motupa is poised to be the next first-team star to leave Mamelodi Sundowns following the recent departure of Andile Jali.

Since joining the club from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in 2020, Motupa has struggled to secure regular playing time at the club.

The 28-year-old attacker has reportedly finalised his departure from Chloorkop and is currently evaluating his options for the upcoming season.

In addition to Motupa, defender Brian Onyango is headed for the exit, as his contract expires at the end of June.

Lesedi Kapinga previously mentioned in KickOff that he finds himself in a similar predicament, with an uncertain future looming after expressing his desire for a transfer during the January window.

Meanwhile, Sundowns are reportedly determined to retain the services of Sphelele Mkhulise.

As revealed by Soccer Laduma, sources at the club suggest that discussions have taken place between the team and the midfielder regarding a contract extension.

With Mkhulise's initial contract set to expire in June this year, it has been revealed that talks have been ongoing between the club and the 27-year-old Bafana Bafana international. It is believed that an agreement has been reached on a new two-year deal.
