PSG's Neymar had awkward handshake with official after 1-1 draw vs Benfica

Paris Saint-Germain dropped points for the first time in the Champions League this season on Wednesday evening.

The French side went into their European encounter away at Benfica on the back of victories over Juventus and Maccabi Haifa.

But PSG couldn’t make it three wins from three in the 2022/23 group stage, an own goal from Danilo Pereira just before the half-time break earning the Portuguese hosts a precious 1-1 draw.

It was Lionel Messi who put PSG 1-0 up in the opening 45 minutes of play with a truly sublime goal.

The Argentine linked up with Neymar near the edge of the Benfica penalty area and then produced a sumptuous first-time finish with the instep of his legendary left foot.

But despite Messi’s best efforts at the Estadio da Luz, PSG had to make do with a point and tempers flared at the end of what was a very eventful game.

Fabian Ruiz, Neymar and Marco Verratti were all shown yellow cards by the referee in second half stoppage-time.

And judging by Neymar’s handshake with Ortiz Arias after the full-time whistle had been blown, the Brazilian superstar wasn’t at all happy with the officiating.

The footage below is giving us serious flashbacks to Thomas Tuchel versus Antonio Conte during Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur‘s 2-2 draw earlier on in the season…
