PSG: Aminata Diallo re-arrested and charged after former teammate attack
Former PSG player Aminata Diallo has been re-arrested as police continue to look into an attack on her ex–teammate Kheira Hamraoui in November.
Hamraoui was brutally attacked last year, following a dinner in association with PSG. The midfielder was dragged from the car she was in by two masked men and was left requiring stitches in her hands and legs.
Diallo, who was driving the car at the time, was arrested after the incident but proclaimed her innocence and was released without charge.
A statement from Diallo, released by her lawyer in November, rubbished a “totally artificial suggestion of a rivalry between her and Mrs Kheira Hamraoui that would explain why she would target her team-mate.”
It added: “This theory does not reflect at all the reality of their relationship.”
On Friday, The Versailles prosecutor’s office said Diallo is being investigated on charges of serious bodily harm and aggravated violence. She is, therefore, being held temporarily while she awaits a court hearing regarding the pretrial detention.
Four men have also been arrested in connection with the assault on Hamraoui.
“All four alleged Diallo was the instigator of the assault, in order to allow her to be given the place of the victim [in the PSG team] in future games,” the prosecutor’s office said.
Last month, Coeurs de Foot reported that Diallo was set to end her career as a professional football, following her release from PSG.
L’Equipe stated that many players were shocked that the club decided not to extend Diallo’s contract, despite making 13 appearances for the club since the initial allegations were made.
During her time at PSG, the midfielder also spent time on loan at the Utah Royals and Atletico Madrid.
