PS Plus: Ridge Racer 2 and Oddworld confirmed for new subscription service

The PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium programmes are set to launch in Asia this week and, as a result, we’re getting a glimpse of some of the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Portable games that are set to be included in the rollout.

We’ve had a few games confirmed already but PushSquare now reports that both Ridge Racer 2 and Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, from PSP and PS1 respectively, are set to be included in the top tier.

They both have significant updates coming with them, too: “up-rendering, rewind, quick save and custom video filters”.

This is a really cool way to bring older games into the modern day and we’ve also had some insight into pricing.

Per the aforementioned report, there is a price attached to buying Oddworld even if you don’t have the PS Plus Premium subscription.

It works out at around $4, which is £3.18. It will be a relief for some to know that they won’t have to buy the subscription in order to play games like this and can buy them separately.

You’ve also got the option to select certain visual presets, video options and a number of selectable aspect ratios depending on the kind of television you intend to play your games on.

However, PushSquare have also published the store listing for Ridge Racer 2 and there is something of a warning for players on console, given that it has been ported across from the PSP.

It reads: “This title has been converted from the PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) version to the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 consoles and provides newly added features. Consequently, there may be times where the title plays differently from the PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) version, or where some features may cause the title to not function properly.”

It remains to be seen if new games will be added
