Proteas wary of Domingo's local knowledge ahead of St George's Park Test

Proteas batter Ryan Rickelton says they have much to improve and expect a big fight from Bangladesh ahead of Friday's second Test at St George's Park in Gqeberha.

South Africa took a one-nil lead in the two-match Test series thanks to superb bowling from Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer at Kingsmead.

Making his Test debut, Rickelton scored 21 and an unbeaten 39 as the Proteas clinched a 220-run victory on Day 5 to win their first Test in Durban since 2013.

Rickelton admits it wasn't a flawless performance from South Africa, especially in the batting and fielding department.

"200 runs margin shows a dominant performance, but there are areas where we could've been better," Rickelton said on Wednesday.

"Being 100/0 in the first innings, we should've really driven the nail through and pushed hard for 400 or 500. As a batting group, we let ourselves down there.

"With regards to the ball, I think we were exceptional with Kesh and Simon taking most of the damage. In the field, we dropped a few chances, so there are areas we need to work on.

"The guys will go through their individual prep and hopefully we can show some improvement in the next Test."

The Proteas are looking to exact revenge from their ODI loss in Gqeberha ahead of Friday's second Test at St George's Park.

The weather is looking rather grim for the first four days with some rain expected, but the wicket is known for its slow and low bounce.

"It's just about trying to get used to and adapt to the conditions. Traditionally we know the wind howls here, it makes it difficult in all areas," said Rickelton.
