Proteas duo Ismail, Kapp nominated for ICC Player of the Month accolade

Proteas seamers Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail were nominated for the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Player of the Month accolade for June.

This follows South Africa's successful T20 and ODI series triumphs in Dublin and last week's drawn Test against England at Taunton.

Ismail, who was ruled out of the Test due to a calf strain, destroyed Ireland with the ball as she ended as the highest wicket-taker in the three-match ODI series, which South Africa clean sweeped 3-0.

The Proteas women's fast bowler took 11 wickets at an impressive average of 5.00 - returning figures of 3 for 16, 3 for 31 and a stunning 5 for 8 in the final ODI.

Ismail is shortlisted for the first time since she won the inaugural ICC Women's Player of the Month award back in January 2021.

All-rounder Kapp, who missed out on the Irish tour, received her ICC nomination after a sublime display with the bat in the sole Test against England.

It was Kapp's second Test cap after her debut in 2014 as she rescued the Proteas' batting woes when she scored her maiden Test century in the first innings.

Kapp stood tall as she scored 150 off 213 balls, in the process setting a record for the highest Test score by a Proteas women's batter.

Despite not taking a wicket, Kapp frustrated England as she followed up in the second innings with 43 not out, salvaging an important draw.

Meanwhile, England's Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root feature alongside New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell after the hosts sealed a 3-0 Test whitewash against the Black Caps.

Details of nomination and voting process:

The three nominees for each category will be determined by the ICC Awards Nominations Committee based on on-field performances and overall achievements during that month (the first to the last
