Proteas batter Petersen leaves Dolphins, returns home to Rocks
Proteas Test batter Keegan Petersen returns to the Western Cape as he joins the Rocks for the 2023/24 season.
The Rocks have bolstered their squad by the signings of Petersen and Proteas fast bowler Glenton Stuurman.
Petersen, who has played 11 Tests for the Proteas, left the Dolphins in Durban and returns home to ply for the Rocks in Paarl.
Proteas top-order batter Janneman Malan, is also now contracted full-time by the Rocks, having previously had a national contract.
Former Proteas bowler Henry Williams, who is at the helm in Paarl, says he is delighted with the squad they've assembled.
"I am of the opinion that we have contracted a very strong squad who will be able to be competitive in all formats. Our squad is more experienced now with all our new recruits being seasoned performers," said Williams in a press statement.
"We welcome Keegan Petersen back to Boland Park. He has since become a national player and is now a top batsman who will strengthen our batting. So too will Aviwe Mgijima who will come in in the middle order and can break partnerships with his off spinners.
"We've played against Glenton Stuurman a lot over the years, and he is top opening bowler who has also played for the national team. Left arm seamer Akhona Mnyaka is another new recruit who has got great abilities, especially in the one-day format."
