Priority deal: NFFC plot bid for "fearless" £15m "prospect", Cooper will be buzzing - opinion

Nottingham Forest have already had an offer rejected for Neco Williams this summer, and now an update has emerged on the club’s continued pursuit of the player.

According to 90min, Nottingham Forest have named Liverpool right-back Williams as a priority target this summer.

As per the report, Fulham, Brentford and Crystal Palace are also interested in securing the signature of the young player, but sources have claimed that Forest are now confident of completing a deal.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to let Williams go if their asking price of £15m is met, and the newly-promoted side are eager to replace Djed Spence with the player ahead of their return to Premier League football next month.

Nottingham Forest have already been busy building their squad to compete in the top-flight in the upcoming season, with three new arrivals already secured, so Steve Cooper will be buzzing if he can also secure a deal for Williams this summer too.

The need for the Wales international has intensified due to Spence’s likely move to Tottenham Hotspur, despite Forest being interested in making the Middlesbrough star’s loan spell a permanent move following their promotion victory.

Williams has struggled to earn game-time during his time at Anfield due to competing with Trent Alexander-Arnold in his position, but was given the golden opportunity to show his potential and strengths whilst on a six-month loan with Fulham in the second half of last term.

During his 14 appearances in Marco Silva’s side, the 21-year-old scored two goals, delivered two assists and created two big chances, making one key pass, 2.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1.6 clearances on average per game, as well as winning the majority of his duels combined (53%).
