Primal Scream make surprise appearance at Chanel's exclusive Manchester after-party

Primal Scream added a touch of rock and roll to proceedings with a surprise performance at Chanel’s after-party at Victoria Baths last night.

The Scottish rock band, known for hits Rocks, Kowalski, and Country Girl, took to the stage at the historic venue which was hosting guests from Chanel’s esteemed Métiers d’Art show.

The runway show, which was held at Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter, was attended by a host of famous faces including Kristen Stewart, Aitch, Hugh Grant, Tilda Swinton, Bugzy Malone, and Lucy Boynton.

The Métiers d’Art show featured the latest collection from Chanel’s creative director Virginie Viard and was followed by an after-party event at Victoria Baths in Fallowfield. The venue will later today be open to the public for an exhibition on Chanel.

Speaking to the M.E.N, residents and students who live by the historic venue said it was 'amazing' to have the city host such an event. “I’ve always loved fashion - this is really cool," Chloe, 21, who is studying psychology at the University of Manchester, said.

"It’s amazing it’s in Manchester and on this street, because I think of this as a bit rundown so it’s incredible to hear of celebrities coming here. I hope people will remember where Manchester is - it’s not a city up north anymore it’s where Chanel hosted a huge show."

Friend Mali, 21, added: “I think it’s mad. I love fashion and shows and it’s so comical it’s happening across the road from where we live."
