Premier League set for imminent points deduction update amid Man City title impact

The Premier League is set to provide an update on the potential points deduction that could impact Manchester City.

Nottingham Forest's appeal against a four-point penalty imposed by the Premier League will be heard next week. If there is any reduction in the penalty, similar to Everton's case, Nuno Espirito Santo's side could move further away from the relegation zone.

Earlier this year, Forest became the second team to violate the league's profitability and sustainability rules (PSRs), following Everton who had their initial ten-point deduction reduced to six after an appeal.

Forest are just one point above Luton Town in 17th place and within another point of Everton, setting the stage for a crucial upcoming match between the two teams. Sean Dyche's squad is still awaiting the verdict on their second set of charges from the league, relating to a two-point sanction imposed for exceeding the £105million loss-making threshold for the most recent period.

A decision on this matter is not expected until near the end of the season, reports Football London. According to the BBC, Forest's appeal is not expected to last more than a day and is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, April 24, just days before they face City. However, it remains unclear when a decision will be reached.

How Nuno's squad handles the looming uncertainty could significantly influence the title race, especially as Pep Guardiola's team may not be leading the race when they travel to the City Ground on April 28.
