Premier League predictions: How the table will look after 8 matches

It’s Premier League eve and we simply can’t wait for it all to kick off again.

It’s been a long summer without top-flight English football to watch but now it’s back.

Crystal Palace and Arsenal will raise the curtain on the new season on Friday night – a season that has a World Cup wedged in the middle of it.

What’s going to happen this season?

While we’ve also explained how stats expect the final Premier League table to look and we’ve also tried predicting it ourselves, we wanted to look more short-term.

How will the Premier League table look after eight matches?

How has the summer gone for each club? Are the first few fixtures favourable? Do they still need to dip into the transfer market?

Well, we’ve gone through the first eight gameweeks that take us up to mid-September and predicted each and every fixture. That has formed a Premier League table after each club has played eight matches.

Want to see our predictions? Of course you do…

The new campaign begins with Crystal Palace and Arsenal playing out an entertaining 1-1 draw. Liverpool and Spurs win comfortably, while Frank Lampard earns a draw against a new-look Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag’s era gets off to a disappointing start with a 2-2 draw at home to Brighton, while West Ham manage to take a point off Manchester City.

In the biggest match of the second gameweek, Spurs beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Man City thrash newcomers Bournemouth at the Etihad, while United are still looking for their first win after a 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Liverpool win comfortably again, while Arsenal beat Leicester 2-0.

Man Utd and Liverpool clash on Monday night and, while United draw their third consecutive match, they’ll be pleased with taking a point from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
