Premier League news as saga involving Newcastle United-linked winger takes new twist

Barcelona are preparing a new bid in the region of £60 million for Newcastle United-linked winger Raphinha, according to the Times. Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this afternoon that the Spanish side saw a bid rejected last night as they look to hijack Chelsea, who have already agreed a fee for the Leeds United star.

Barcelona's financial position was boosted massively today after announcing major new investment from American company Sixth Sense. Whether this proposed new bid is structured in the way Leeds want remains to be seen, though. Newcastle have held talks with the Whites over a move for Raphinha, though it seems as though it is now a two-horse race between Barcelona and Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete the signing of Everton forward Richarlison and Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet, according to the Athletic. Richarlison underwent a medical in Brazil today after the two sides agreed a deal in the region of £50 million.

Lenglet, meanwhile, is on the verge of completing a season-long-loan move from the Camp Nou after falling out of favour in Spain. The duo are set to become Spurs’ fourth and fifth signings of the summer following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

Brennan Johnson is set to sign a new four-year deal at Nottingham Forest with the two parties now very close to an agreement. That is according to the Athletic, who claim that positive discussions have been held in recent days with only minor details to iron out.
