Premier League clubs already 'looking' at Danny Ings amid Aston Villa struggles

Danny Ings was a high profile signing by Aston Villa in the aftermath of Jack Grealish's exit. While many thought he would plug the attacking threat hole that Grealish left in the side, Ings has failed to live up to expectations as of yet.

The player has shown glimpses of brilliance, with a stunning effort against Newcastle United and neat finishes against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford. However, as a whole has struggled in the systems he's operated within and the players around him.

In 17 appearances in the Premier League this season the £30million man has recorded just four goals and two assists, a tally which took him just five games last season in a Southampton shirt.

Speaking to GIveMeSport, "transfer insider" Dean Jones said: "Yeah, I think there will already be a few clubs looking at Danny Ings' situation and wondering if they might be able to get some change out of that, thinking, 'Can we find a deal?'"

Steven Gerrard recently comment on Ings' situation at the club, where the Villa boss revealed: "I think Danny is fighting to be 100 per cent and being the best version of himself.

"I’m hoping with more game time and more training time, we can get Danny from maybe 80 or 90 per cent to 100.

"When you’ve got those two fit and firing and in the mood to score goals, this club and this team will be stronger."

Ings could be in line to start this weekend against Watford, with Ollie Watkins struggling to find form whilst leading the line on his own in recent weeks. Three of Ings' goals this season have come whilst Watkins isn't on the pitch, so it is fair to assume he may thrive whilst replacing him in the line-up rather than joining him.

Gerrard outlined there would be changes made ahead of this fixture.
