Predicted Manchester United team to face Crystal Palace: Illness could hinder full Garnacho debut

The predicted Manchester United team to face Crystal Palace could see young ace Alejandro Garnacho make his full Premier League debut, should he recover from illness.

Up-and-down form has been a feature of United’s season. While they were challenging for a top-four finish for a while, the chances of finishing within the top four ended a while back.

In the last few weeks, their form has continued in the same vein it has for much of the campaign. Following a 3-2 victory over Norwich City, helped by a game-saving hat-trick by Cristiano Ronaldo, United lost their next two.

Rivals Liverpool smashed the Red Devils 4-0, and Arsenal dealt them a 3-1 loss the following match. While they managed a 1-1 draw against Chelsea the next game, and a 3-0 win over Brentford after that, they slipped to a massive defeat the following fixture.

United were dealt a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of mid-table Brighton. The only thing left to play for in United’s season is a Europa League place for next season. They need to better West Ham’s result to finish in sixth, and guarantee a spot in the competition.

Youngster Garnacho has been beating down the door for a place in Man Utd‘s senior squad with his performances of late. The 17-year-old scored seven goals and provided three assists in United’s triumphant FA Youth Cup campaign, including a brace in the final.

Ralf Rangnick mentioned a potential setback on course to his full debut ahead of the match. The manager said he had been ill, and “might be back” for the game, but may not be fit to play.

Rangnick also touched on the fitness of Jadon Sancho and Phil Jones, who may miss out, as they “couldn’t finish” training.

David De Gea started in net. The centre-back positions were filled by Raphael Varane
