Poya Asbaghi reveals Barnsley team news update ahead of Luton Town clash

Poya Asbaghi hasn’t been able to get Barnsley ticking yet and with reports emerging over him potentially being replaced in a bid to get the Tykes away from relegation, he will be eager to pick up points against Luton this week.

The manager though has revealed to the club’s official website that he will be without Jasper Moon, has been a fairly frequent feature at Oakwell in the league so far this campaign.

The 21-year-old has really burst onto the scene with Barnsley this year, making 21 appearances for the side in the Championship. With 15 starts to boot, he has been turned to quite frequently by the club and Asbaghi but won’t play a part against the Hatters in midweek.

Last year, when the club rose towards the play-off places, he featured a lot less. He managed to get on the field but only had one start in total under Valerien Ismael in the second tier and found action hard to come by.

This campaign though, with the Tykes struggling, they have turned to the midfielder quite often. He has looked fairly bright at times too but will have to miss out on their next game with an injury.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Asbaghi said: “In terms of injury, Jasper Moon just came back today, but he won’t be involved tomorrow. Hopefully he will return for the weekend.”

It means that while Moon will have to sit out Barnsley’s crunch clash against Luton, he may be able to at least play a part against QPR at the weekend. There are two difficult games on the horizon for the Tykes and they’ll be eager to ensure they can have Moon back to help soon. In terms of other injuries though, it appears as though they could have most others available to them as they had in the loss to Huddersfield.
