Portsmouth new boy has message for Tottenham after sealing transfer to join Danny Cowley's Blues

New Portsmouth signing Josh Oluwayemi has paid tribute to Tottenham following his transfer to join the Blues.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Pompey after leaving Spurs this summer, becoming Pompey's sixth summer signing to date, following on from the arrivals of Marlon Park, Zak Swanson, Joe Rafferty, Josh Griffiths and Joe Pigott.

The move came after Oluwayemi trained with Portsmouth earlier in the summer, featuring as a trialist in the Blues' pre-season friendly with Havant & Waterlooville at the beginning of July. He has now signed on the dotted line at Fratton Park ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, penning a one-year deal with the League One club, with Pompey having the option to extend it by a further 12 months if they wish.

And after signing for the Blues, the goalkeeper posted a classy message about his time at Tottenham on his social media channels. "It’s an end of beautiful chapter at the club," he wrote. "I want to say thank you to all the coaching staff, the fans and the teammates. Picking me up as a 10-year-old boy, it has been an eventful 11 years with many memories and @spursofficial will always have a place in my heart #COYS."

On his move to Portsmouth, he said: "All the glory be to God. I am glad to sign for such a big club with rich history. Can't wait to get started with @officialpompey. Let’s go!!!"

Speaking about Portsmouth's latest summer acquisition, boss Danny Cowley hailed Oluwayemi when discussing the move with the club's official website.

“Josh had a great footballing education with Tottenham and has amazing athleticism. He’s an incredible shot-stopper and is also good with his feet, so we’re delighted to bring him to the club," he said.

“We’ve got Josh Griffiths
