Popular pasta restaurant announces closure of second Manchester site 'with heavy heart'

Popular local pasta experts Rigatoni’s has announced it has closed another of its Manchester restaurants with immediate effect.

The restaurant formerly known as Sud revealed only last month that it had closed its venue on Stanley Square in Sale. At the time, the owners said the decision had been made following ‘huge challenges’ in the hospitality industry.

Now, Rigatoni’s, which was also previously called Sugo Pasta, has said its kitchen at the Exhibition food hall on Peter Street in the city centre has also closed. Its restaurants in Altrincham and Ancoats will remain open.

In a post on social media, the pasta chain said: “It’s with a heavy heart that we need to tell you folks that we’ve closed our kitchen @exhibition.mcr in the city centre. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time there, but have come to realise that our Altrincham and Ancoats restaurants need our complete focus and attention with the recent launch of Rigatoni’s.

“Unfortunately in this regard our Exhibition kitchen has stretched us too thin meaning we’re not able to give it the all that we and they require. We’d like to thank the entire team at Exhibition and wish them nothing but the best moving forward. Great place and will for sure continue to cheer them on from the sidelines.”

The restaurant was rebranded as Rigatoni’s at the start of the year. As part of the new look, the chain decided to simplify its menu and serve just one pasta type, homemade rigatoni, accompanied by different sauces.

The pasta experts have taken up the space at Exhibition since last August as part of the venue’s Autumn/Winter season with Scandinavian kitchen OSMA and Basque favourites Baratxuri.
