Popular Greater Manchester cafe issues stark warning to customers after announcing sudden closure

A popular coffee and pizza spot has warned more businesses will shut without support after announcing its sudden closure. Bianco Pizza & Coffee in Sale confirmed the sad news last night (21 January) on social media.

The popular cafe bowed out of its Sale site after ten years, citing 'spiralling' costs affecting hospitality. On a post shared to its Facebook page, owners of the Hereford Street venue warned other independent businesses will 'flounder' in these 'difficult times' without custom.

The owners of Bianco Pizza & Coffee opened a second unit under a railways arch on Viaduct Road in Altrincham in 2022, and it is understood that this site currently remains open. As well as fresh pasta and gnocchi, the traditional Italian coffee and pizza venue also serves up a range of breakfast items and light bites, alongside kids and vegan dishes and afternoon tea.

But in a post shared on Facebook last night, the team wrote: "It is with much sadness that we have taken the extremely hard decision to close the doors to Bianco permanently as of today the 21st January 2024.

"Over the past decade, we‘ve been proud to serve Sale, but despite our best efforts and wonderful customers, the spiralling costs associated with hospitality in particular, rent, food, and soaring energy costs have made it impossible for us to continue."

They added: "We’re deeply grateful to the staff and want to thank them for being part of the Bianco family over the last ten years. Their hard work and commitment have been invaluable and we thank each and every one of them who have been on this journey with us."
