Poll: After double swoop, is Celtic squad stronger than last season?

Celtic are less than two weeks away from the club’s first league game of the season against Aberdeen, and it looks as if the club are looking to get as much transfer business done as possible before the 2022/23 campaign kicks off.

After the signings of Ben Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei, and the permanent deals for Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, the Hoops have now completed another two signings, with Aaron Mooy joining the Bhoys on a two-year deal and Moritz Jenz signing on loan until the end of the season.

The arrival of Mooy and Jenz begs the question: is the Celtic squad stronger than it was last season?

If you look at who has left Celtic, the only real first-team regulars that have departed are Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton, and Bitton in particular didn’t start every game for the Hoops.

It has to be said though, that Rogic will be badly missed, and fans might not realise just how important he was to Celtic until the team returns to action.

As for the other players that have moved on from Celtic, the likes of Vasilis Barkas and Boli Bolingoli were on the fringes of the squad, and weren’t going to feature for the first-team.

As for the signings that the Hoops have made in the current transfer window, leaving Carter-Vickers and Jota aside as they were at the club last season, the new Bhoys might struggle to become first-team regulars for the Hoops.

Of the players brought in, Bernabei and Mooy seem most likely to be starters, with the rest squad players. Bernabei could take the place of Greg Taylor in the side, or he could rotate with Taylor in the left-back role, and Mooy seems likely to feature in midfield fairly often due to the number of games that the Hoops will be playing in season 2022/23.

There is nothing wrong
