Police have issued an update after the tragic death of a 21-year-old sparked a murder investigation in Old Trafford on Wednesday night (May 31).

Emergency services were called to a 'disturbance' at a house on Kings Road at around 7.45pm where Salah Eldin Adam had suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Old Trafford’s Neighbourhoods Policing Team have confirmed in a new update that officers are to remain a constant presence in the area following the fatal incident to 'provide extra reassurance to residents'. The force has already confirmed there would be additional patrols in the area.

On Thursday (June 1), a cordon remained in place around two houses as forensic officers scoured the scene for evidence. Shocked residents woke to find their street swarming with police as others were seen hugging and comforting each other. It is understood the attack is believed to have been targeted.

"It is really sad," one neighbour told the Manchester Evening News. "It's normally quiet around here, we're a friendly neighbourhood."

The victim at the centre of the murder probe, Salah Eldin Adam, was identified locally.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Marc Foster said: “We want our presence to be a reassuring one to those who live in the area and are worried about the incident that occurred yesterday.

“We are working with partner agencies and local authorities to minimise disruption and do all we can to keep our residents safe and to ensure we remain engaged with the local community
