Police tape off Greater Manchester street after animal lung found

Officers swarmed a Trafford street after an unusual item was found outside. Greater Manchester Police was called out to Lock Lane, in Partington, earlier this morning (September 2).

The force issued a major response, with a cordon put in place and crime scene investigators sent out to the scene. It followed the discovery of a 'discarded piece of meat' which raised suspicion.

However, it was later discovered to be beef lung, the Manchester Evening News understands. The unusual item had been left out for wild foxes to eat.

It's understood that police spoke to the person who left the beef lung, and it's not the first time the item has been left out for foxes in Partington. But on this occasion, the incident raised the suspicion of a member of the public at around 7am.

Officers, including a forensics team, rushed out to the scene in case the discovery turned out to be more serious. Images from the scene show images being taken as evidence, while an area of Lock Lane was taped off.
