Police stop HGV driver after M60 incident - and arrest him soon after

Police have arrested an HGV driver after they tested positive for cocaine during a roadside test.

Officers spotted the driver of the HGV crossing the solid white lines at Simister Island on the M60 'narrowly avoiding another car', according to Greater Manchester Police.

The driver was followed and stopped at Birch Services on the M62, where they were made subject to a roadside test which revealed they had cocaine in their system. They were arrested and taken into custody at Bury.

In a tweet, GMP wrote: "#ME11 observed the driver of the HGV crossing the solid white lines M60 J18 narrowly avoiding another car.

"Stopped at Birch Services, the driver was subject to a roadside drugs test. Result = positive for cocaine! Driver arrested and now in custody at Bury."
