Police search for vandal driver who ripped up popular football pitch

Police have appealed for information after a group of youths are believed to have been driving around Oldham recklessly in a car, eventually causing damage to a popular playing field.

Officers in Oldham reported that a Grey Honda Civic was seen driving around the Limeside area over the weekend.

The same vehicle is thought to have then driven onto Limeside Park. It caused damage to a football pitch which is used by a number of local teams.

Greater Manchester Police have now issued a statement appealing for information to help them track down those involved in the damage. In images shared along the appeal, vehicle tracks can also be seen across the football pitch.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “A Grey Honda Civic has been witnessed driving around the Limeside area over the weekend.

“The vehicle also drove onto the playing fields in Limeside Park causing damage to the football pitch which is used by several football teams .The vehicle is believed to be being driven by local youths.

“If you have any information that may assist us please contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
