Police launch fresh appeal to trace 'high-risk' missing woman not seen for eight days

Police have issued a renewed appeal to help trace a 'high-risk' missing woman last seen eight days ago.

Officers say they are becoming 'increasingly concerned' about Mariann, 55, who police say is Hungarian and speaks very little English.

She was last seen on Chorley Old Road in Bolton on December 14 at around 9:30am. wearing a distinctive mid-length cream coat with a furry hood. Officers saying they are working 'around the clock' to ensure Mariann is safe and well.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Following a number of appeals over the last week, officers both in Bolton and supported by specialist units are continuing to work around the clock to search for Mariann, as we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

"Her last confirmed sighting was on Chorley Old Road in Bolton on Saturday 14 December at around 9:30am.

"Since last week members of the public have been reporting possible sightings of her and speaking to officers in person. Work is still ongoing by specialist units to track her movements to ensure we can find her and confirm these reports.

"We know she is Hungarian, aged 55, around five-foot tall of a slim build and speaks very little English. Enquiries have included speaking with groups and specific communities in the area that could help us.

"Of note, she was last seen wearing a distinctive mid-length cream coat with a furry hood.

"Anyone with information is asked to continue to report this to 101 direct quoting log 2159 of 15/12/2024."
