Police issue appeal after Wigan crash leaves boy, 17, with life-threatening injuries

Police are appealing for more information after a 17-year-old boy was left with life-threatening injuries following a crash in Wigan.

Officers were called to a serious collision involving one car on Winstanley Road at around 2:50pm on Thursday February 16. It is believed that a red Ford Fiesta was travelling in a southerly direction along Winstanley Road when it lost control and collided with a tree.

A 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were rushed to hospital, the boy having sustained life-threatening injuries. Police are now asking members of the public with any information about the collision to come forward.

"GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or the vehicle in question prior to the collision, to get in touch," they said.

"Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 1949 of 16/02/2023. Alternatively, details can be passed via the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
